If you like to question about the meaning of life, I would like to recommend a TV series which has injected philosophical issues to the drama. It is “Joan of Arcadia” which is showing every Sunday from 5pm to 6 pm on Channel 5.
The plot revolved around Joan who was a high school student and who was able to communicate with God. God often appeared as different strangers around Joan to pass different messages to Joan. Joan would then carry out the tasks which she has been instructed. In doing so, she helped others and helped herself.
Initially, she also asked God for miracles and answers. Gradually, she realized that she would need to work towards the outcomes, rather than wait for miracles. She would also need to seek answers herself. Things happened for a reason and one should not always see things at face value.
The theme was rather unique, and rather thought-provoking. If you happen to be at home on Sunday afternoon and have nothing else better to do, it may be worthwhile watching. Personally, I thought this series offers a break from the usual reality TV.
