Although this was the second session that has been conducted since I joined the company, it was my first. Unfortunately, I had to miss the first because of meeting. Hence, this morning was filled with excitement with not knowing what to expect.
Since this was the Chinese New Year period, the theme revolved around the festive season. We started with a bang. There was a lion dance to kick off the event before the big big boss summarised some of the key happenings in the company. This was to create greater awareness among all staffs of the company's latest development so that all staffs could feel ownership and involvement.
The second half of the communication session involved some of the heads of departments sharing their achievements and projects under the theme of fortune telling - a common activity during CNY. Some of the heads had injected lots of humour on fengshui and fortune telling in their sharing. This drew rounds and rounds of laughter from the audience.
The highlight was when the bosses "bai4 nian2" to all the staffs with oranges and ang paos. This was the moment we have been waiting for, ie to get the ang paos (no cash, just vouchers). *Grin* There was lots of food provided as well. There was a breakfast, a tea-break and lunch. The lunch was especially satisfactory and fulfilling, with bee hoon, rice, mussels, ginseng chicken, stewed duck, ebi tempura, sweet and sour fish, etc. Before the start of the lunch, there was also a lo hei to busk in the luck and fortune for the new lunar year.
However, the best news was saved for the last. To reward us for our hardwork, we were given half day off to go home and spend time with our family. Yes! Yes!!
Of course, it was time for some weekday shopping. *Wink Wink*
