There has been a lot of hype around the cake that the Auntie makes, especially her durian and mango cakes. Both are ‘heaty’ cakes which I will usually steer away from. She also makes strawberry yogurt cakes. One is too big for me, so I have decided to take half, but who was willing to share the cake with me.
Finally, I found YM who was willing to share the other half of the cake with me. Excitedly, we placed an order for strawberry yogurt cake.
The first time, the Auntie could not make all the cakes in time and strawberry yogurt cake order was ‘sacrificed’.
The second time, the coordinator among us forgot to place our order, so it was another disappointment.
The third time, the Auntie could not make any cake as she was busy making mooncakes.
We were already on the brink of giving up. Finally, we got our order squeezed in but she delivered the cakes one day late again due to the inability to deliver the orders in time. The cakes were to be delivered around 6 but we only got the cakes at 7.
Angie who has ordered the tiramisu cake decided to cut the cake there and then and all of us tucked in to the cake. We were a certainly rowdy bunch oohing and wowing over the look of the cake. Our boss heard our merriment and walked out thinking that a birthday party was in the making. In fact, it was just our excitement over the cakes. It was followed by a frenzy to search for paper plates to search the cakes in. When we got the plates, we realized we were missing cutlery. Vern who has bought many stirrers to take her chamomile tea passed out the stirrers instead. We were joking that it would take us 10 years to finish the cake using the stirrer.
It was a happy way to end yet another long and stressful day. The cakes and the mini gathering with the laughter helped dispel the stress of the day. Finally, it was home sweet home.
