Straits Kitchen offers a range of local fare from Malay to Chinese to Indian, ie more high class hawker food. If one is a fan of local food, one will certainly be wowed by its variety all under one roof.
- In the Malay corner, there is satay, otah, nasi lemak (with fried chicken wings, buah kelak chichen and sambal prawns.
- In the Chinese corner, there is stir-fried lettuce, fried carrot cake, cha kway teow, roast duck and chicken, Hainanese chicken, prawn noodles.
- In the Indian corner, there is naan and curries.
- The local snacks corner offers rojak, sambal stingray, gado gado, muah chee and pancake (mee chiam kueh).
- The dessert section includes an overwhelming variety of kuehs – mainly made from rice floor and with coconut syrup, including the famous teochew yam paste.
- The drinks counter produces a colourful range of bandung, sour plum, barley, pineapple and apple juices.
However, our favourite was still the tropical fruits ice-cream and sorbet. Personally, I find the soursop sorbet the most refreshing especially after the strong-flavoured main course.
We were so full after the lunch that we decided to walk back to office despite the strong afternoon sun. I have to confess that we did have a strong urge to go shopping during the walk back... =p
