As part of the cost cutting measures, the company decided to do away with the annual Dinner & Dance totally. Instead, a smaller budget was allocated to each department to have their decentralised mingling session. We decided to spend it on good food - buffet lunch.
Actually, what we were looking more towards was the afternoon off after the lunch. Nearing the end of the buffet, we were constantly checking out watches and showing huge hints of impatience of wanting to go off. Come on, Orchard Road was literally a breath away. The shopping centres beckoned. Every minutes count especially when it was only the second week of the Great Singapore Sale.
When we could finally went off, we basked in the air of freedom and shopping on a weekday afternoon. Wow, it was truly liberating! This is what I called "a life".
