Changi Airport Terminal 3

I have wanted to go to Changi Airport Terminal 3 for weeks as it will be a rare chance to enter the restricted area during this open house period. Let's face it, unless you are one of those privileged few who get to fly around the globe for your job assignments or who can afford to travel by the better airlines during your vacations, it will not be easy to travel beyond the check-in gates.

Apparently, I am not the only one with the thoughts. The place is filled with many people - both locals and foreigners. The high ceiling creates a very spacious area. The most unique part has to be its modern-looking ceiling. The 5-storey high green wall introduces a breath of fresh air into the building. This is complemented by the many flora and fauna which is placed at various corners of the terminal.

The water feature at the centre of the lounge greets the visitors once they enter the department gates. The flow of water immediately calms all senses and seems to transport the visitors to a grand spa instead of a bustling airport. This water feature is also the centre of the attraction as one stands on the corridors of the forth level of the airport. Hence, even if one is not a traveler, one can still admire the water feature.

The slightly Roman looking wall at the bottom of the green wall and at the start of the luggage belt definitely draws many clicks from the shutter bugs.

It also has many eateries and shops both in the general and restricted areas. There are also discounts given to visitors during the open house period for many of the eateries. All the well-known local eateries and international fast food restaurants and coffee joints, such as Ah Kun Kaya Toast, McDonald’s, Burger King, TCC, Coffee Club, etc, concentrate here.

Changi Airport seems to evolve from a place of purely for taking flights to one which combines function and entertainment within the same roof. With state-of-the-art design, it certainly wows both local and overseas visitors.
