There is a full moon on the 15th day of every Lunar month. The full moon on the 15th day of Chinese New Year was touted to be one of the brightest and biggest moons for many years as this was the time when the Moon was nearest to the earth.

The moon was indeed big but was not bright was it was hidden behind a veil of cloud.
