Transformers

It is a typical guy show with cars, robots, aliens, babes and fighting scenes.

For those who grow up in the eighties, Transformers are our playmates. The weekly cartoon series were must-watch shows. Your primary school classmate sitting in the same group sang to you the theme songs during breaks. The boys might even bring the Transformers toys to class and role-played their own version of the Transformers (although sometimes it was Ninja Turtles). Watching Transformers the movie was as if time has gone back to my primary school days.

Of course, this was an 'updated' version of the eighties. The Transformers came to know about information from World Wide Web and eBay. Some of the robots could plant viruses into the mainframes. The electrical gadgets which could be transformed to bad robots were iPods and Nokia phones. Despite the ubiquitous high tech stuffs and cars being featured, the themes have not changed from the eighties version. The messages on maintaining peace, fighting for justice and saving mankind are still the key areas of emphasis.

It is a fast-paced, action and effects packed show which leaves no breaks to heave a sigh of relief. I was holding to my belongings, perhaps my breath as well, tightly throughout the show. In fact, I have only let go towards the end of the show.

The conclusion was that it was a typical guy show, but it was a typical guy show that I have enjoyed.
